MADEIRA, Fla. -- South Dakota State softball swept Saturday's action at THE 2020 Spring Games, rolling past Loyola Chicago 5-1 before a dominant 10-0 victory in five innings against Holy Cross.

The Jackrabbits improved to 11-7 on the season and 3-1 at the weekend event.

Grace Glanzer (9-2) earned the win in her ninth complete-game performance of the season. Glanzer struck out five and scattered seven Rambler hits with two runs allowed.

Olivia Pfeifer (double) and Cylie Halvorson both went 2-for-4 at the plate, while Allison Beaudry drove in three runs with a fifth-inning, pinch-hit double. Kelsey Lenox accounted for the other Jackrabbit RBI.

Loyola scratched runs across in the third and fourth to open up a 2-0 lead, but the Jackrabbits flipped the script in the fifth with a five-run frame to take control.

Pfeifer opened the rally with a one-out double down the left-field line, then moved to third as Halvorson slipped a single through the left side. Lenox plated the first run with a single up the middle, and Mia Elliott followed with a single of her own to load the bases. State tied it at two as Chiara Bassi reached on an error, and with two gone Beaudry cleared the bases as she roped a three-run RBI double to the left-center gap.

Ahead 5-2, Glanzer and the Jackrabbit defense retired the final six Rambler batters in order to secure the win.

Kendra Conard (2-3) allowed just two hits in the victory, striking out five Crusaders while facing only four over the minimum.

Allison Yoder drove in a game-high five runs with a double and triple. Jocelyn Carrillo, who drove in two runs, and Halvorson each had doubles. Elliott posted a multi-hit game as well at the plate.

Scoreless through two, the Jacks snagged a 1-0 lead in the top of the third off their first hit of the game. Carrillo reached with a four-pitch, one-out walk then moved up to second on a passed ball with two outs. Daugherty followed with single to right to bring home a run.

South Dakota State extended the lead with another three runs, opening up a 4-0 lead on the Crusaders. Carrillo sent the first run of the inning across with a two-out double, then wheeled around to score herself (along with Lindsey Culver) as Yoder ripped a two-bagger of her own.

The Jackrabbits put the game out of reach in the top of the fifth with six more runs, thanks in part to a three-run triple from Yoder. Pfeifer started the inning with a single, then raced around the bags on Halvorson's double to right. Lenox was hit by a pitch in the next at-bat and Elliott followed with a single to load the bases. With one gone, Culver singled and Carrillo walked to bring two more in, and Yoder cleared the bases two pitches later with a triple to the left-field corner.

Up 10-0 and within reach of the run-rule victory, Conard and the Jacks worked around a one-out walk in the bottom of the fifth and ended the game with a double play.

South Dakota State is 1-1 against Loyola Chicago and 7-0 against Holy Cross.
The Jacks have won two games by run-rule in 2020.
SDSU has scored three or more runs in an inning 15 times.
Allison Yoder's five RBIs are the most by a Jackrabbit since Yanney Ponce brought five runs in on May 4, 2019.

Sunday's action features two more games for South Dakota State in Madeira, Florida. The Jackrabbits face Merrimack at 8 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. start against Ohio. There will be no live stats for the Merrimack contest, though fans can watch the stream for both games through FloSoftball.com.
