The Dakota Marker rivalry between South Dakota State and North Dakota State received its baptism on Oct. 9, 2004, at SDSU's Coughlin-Alumni Stadium. Playing before a then-Beef Bowl-record crowd of 12,323 the Jackrabbits mounted a game-winning drive in the closing minutes to pull out a 24-21 victory and set the stage for what has become one of the most intense rivalries in the Football Championship Subdivision.Â
