South Dakota State's hot shooting proved to be North Dakota's undoing, as the Jackrabbits recorded a 92-73 victory over the Fighting Hawks Friday night at Frost Arena.
The Jacks shot 60 percent overall and connected on 14-of-22 3-pointers (63.6 percent) to earn their fourth consecutive victory.
"Offensively, I thought we were terrific in the first half," head coach
Eric Henderson opined. "Like I have always said, when we can make a team miss and rebound, we can play with pace and we can get cooking a little bit."
South Dakota State (9-3, 3-0 Summit League) led almost the entire way en route to its 28
th consecutive win in Frost Arena. Additionally, the Jacks have won 31 league games in a row at home.
Following a back-and-forth four minutes, SDSU embarked on a 15-4 run that gave the hosts a comfortable lead. The margin would grow to 24 points at the break, 56-32.
UND started the second half on a 16-3 run, drawing to within 59-48 with 13:52 remaining, but the Jacks scored the next seven points and rolled on to victory.
Noah Freidel scored a game-high 24 points, making 6-of-9 from deep, leading a brigade of five Jackrabbits in double figures.
Luke Appel added 15 points in 23 minutes off the bench, while
Alex Arians and
Douglas Wilson each tallied 12.
Baylor Scheierman turned in his seventh double-double of the season, 10 points and 10 rebounds along with four assists.
Filip Rebraca and Tyree Ihenacho led North Dakota (4-12, 3-4 Summit League) with 14 points apiece.
