GRAND FORKS, N.D. - South Dakota State volleyball ended the regular season with a sweep (25-23, 25-21, 25-16) of North Dakota Saturday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. The Jackrabbits finish the Summit League regular season 10-8 and above .500 in conference action for the first time since 2010.
Chloe Stitt recorded her second consecutive double-double and sixth of the season with 13 kills and 14 digs. She tallied three straight ace serves in the opening set to give the Jackrabbits a 15-11 lead.
The Jackrabbits led 20-13 later on in the set before the Fighting Hawks went on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 20.
Ella Thompson and Stitt gave the Jacks a 22-20 lead with back-to-back kills and SDSU hung on to take the set.
A 5-1 run part way through the second set gave the Jackrabbits a 16-13 lead.
Crystal Burk, Stitt and Thompson notched a kill apiece put SDSU up four at 20-16.
Elyse Winter put down the final kill of the second set to give the Jacks a 2-0 match lead.
A dominant .577 Jackrabbit attack rate in set three sealed the match for SDSU. The Jacks had 15 kills and no errors on 26 attacks in the set. SDSU also got four points off UND service errors in game three.Â
Thompson and Burk added eight kills apiece for the Jacks and Andrews chipped in six kills at a .417 clip.
Carly Wedel and
Jasmine Weidemann dished out 36 total assists and Wedel added three kills. Burk and Andrews took part in two blocks each.
Ashlyn Olson had nine kills for the Fighting Hawks and Madi Hart had 13 digs.
NOTES
- The Jackrabbits move to 18-11 overall and 10-8 in Summit League action.
- SDSU will be the 6-seed at the Summit League Championship Tournament next week in Vermillion, S.D. This is the first time the Jackrabbits will make a postseason appearance since 2010 and the third time since joining the Summit League.
