South Dakota State baseball coach Rob Bishop announced Monday the signing of junior college first baseman Dawson Parry to a National Letter of Intent. Parry plans to join the Jackrabbits in the fall and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Â
"We are really excited to add a player of Dawson's caliber to this recruiting class," Bishop said. "He's someone who we expect to be a presence in the middle of our order from Day 1. He's a high-energy, high-character guy who will fit in perfectly with our core group of position players."
Â
During an abbreviated 2020 season at Miles City (Mont.) Community College, Parry batted .500 (17-for-34) with 17 runs batted in only 12 games. He also posted a .765 slugging percentage, tallying four doubles, one triple and a home run, while scoring 12 runs.
Â
At the high school level, the Highland, Utah, native earned first-team all-state honors as a senior and was a two-time first-team all-region selection at American Fork High School. An honor student, he plans to major in exercise science.
Â
Parry joins a group of six high school standouts who committed to SDSU during the early signing period in November.
Â
SDSU is scheduled to open the 2021 season Feb. 19 at Kansas.
