Trent Francom, a senior pole vaulter from Huron, S.D., will represent South Dakota State at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this Saturday, March 13.
Francom is set to compete at 12:30 inside the Randal Tyson Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Fans are not permitted at the meet.
Francom enters the championships tied for seventh in the nation, and is just one of eight vaulters to clear 18-0.00 this season. Francom's personal best came on Jan. 20 at the SDSU Last Chance when he cleared 18-0.50 to further steal South Dakota State's school record from himself— a record he's at least shared part of since his freshman season in 2018.
"I'm excited for this opportunity and to be able to compete against the best, said Francom. "No place I'd rather be."
Francom took home bronze at the 2021 Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships behind South Dakota's Ethan Bray (4th nationally) and Eerik Haamer (T-8 nationally) who will also compete at Saturday's NCAA Championships.
The championships will air on ESPN3 and be available on the WatchESPN app. Live results from the meet can be found
