JACKRABBIT MEN DEFEND LEAGUE TITLE FRIDAY

Spring Lake Park in Macomb, Ill. will set the stage for Friday's 2020 Summit League Cross Country Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare.
The South Dakota State men will look to defend the league title and win their fifth-consecutive Summit League Cross Country Championship. With a win, the Jacks tie Southern Utah (1997-2001) for the longest streak in league history. As for the women, the Jackrabbits will look to improve on their third place finish from a year ago.
The individual champions from the men's and women's races will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. Any teams hoping to qualify must go through the NCAA at-large selection process.
Four men's and women's teams (North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Western Illinois) will compete.WHERE TO LOOK
On the men's side, SDSU enters the race with eight Summit League conference championships under its belt, as well as last year's individual champion in Joseph MInor-Williams.Â
The reigning Championship MVP, who led last year's championship team to a perfect score of 15, comes off a gold medal performance in last week's conference championships 5,000. Minor-Williams will look to be the first student-athlete to capture two-straight championship titles since John Stanley of Troy did so during the 1995 and 1996 league cross country championships.
Thomas Breuckman enters the race having captured gold in the men's 3,000 and Gabe Peters comes off an impressive championships showing, coming up big for SDSU with points scored in three events (mile, 3K, 5K)
In the lone meet of the season, Ben Olson led the Jackrabbits (currently ranked eighth in the Midwest) in the men's 8,000 Garnet race at the Florida State Winter XC Invitational to finish 83rd in the field of 143 runners. The junior Coon Rapids, Minn. native turned in a career-best 8,000 time of 25:02.3. Right behind Olson, Thomas Breuckman finished 85th with a mark of 25:03.5 and Gabe Peters turned in a time of 25:15.6 to take 93rd. In his SDSU cross country debut, Kansas City transfer Max Selbach ran a 25:23.4 to take 97th, while Joseph Minor-Williams finished 105th to round out State's top five with a time of 25:36.7. Mason McDonald (126th, 26:01.4) and Michael Schwinghamer (131st, 26:10.4) finished sixth and seventh for the Jacks, respectively.
For the women, six of the nine Jackrabbit finishers from last year's race return on Friday. Last year's Jackrabbit women would finish third with 73 points. Anna Donnay finsihed second overall with a 21:02.3 and All-Summit League honors. Behind Donnay were Ellie Friesen (13th, 21:55.2, second team All-Summit League), Leah Hansen (17th, 22:11.8), Cailee Peterson (19th, 22:19.8), Jessica Christoffer (28th, 24:44.) and Kayla Christopherson (30th, 22:53.9).
Donnay, Friesen, Hansen, Peterson and Christoffer are also coming off medal performances from indoor championships. Donnay took home bronze in the women's 5,000 while Friesen took home silver in the mile and bronze in the 3,000. Hansen enters Friday's race having come off two personal-best performances in the women's 3,000 and 5,000 where she took second in both and Cailee Peterson and Jessica Christoffer joined up for a bronze medal as member's of the Jacks' DMR and Peterson turned in a PR mile mark to earn third.
