Rachel Hewitt on Sunday.

The Jacks have not lost a game this season, standing at 8-0-4 and now sits in second place in the Summit League standings after last weekend's series sweep against NDSU.

South Dakota State is coming off a 15-5-2 season in 2019, which included winning the Summit League Championship and making its fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

About the Jackrabbits
In 12 matches played in 2021, the Jacks have held strong defensively, recording eight shutouts and allowing just four goals this season. SDSU ranks 14th in the nation in goals against average with .318 and is tied for 22nd in shutout percentage (.667).

Three Jackrabbits have appeared between the pipes this season.

Taylor Lock is 7-0-1 as she has appeared in all 12 games this season. Lock has 12 saves on 51 shots faced.
Hailee Fischer leads the team in saves with 14 in nine games played and has not allowed a goal this season.
Jocelyn Tanner has played in the last four games for the Jacks, recording seven saves on 18 shots faced without allowing a goal.

Offensively,
Maya Hansen added to her total goals last weekend in Fargo with two scores, increasing her season total to seven. Hansen leads the Jacks, is tied for second in the Summit League and ranks 26th nationally in goals scored. Hansen is one of two players in the conference to record a hat trick this season after finding the net three times vs. Kansas City March 5. 13 of Hansen's 24 shots have been on goal this season.

Another scoring threat for the Jacks is
Kayla Wisniewski. A transfer from Purdue Fort Wayne, Wisniewski has made an immediate impact with the team. Wisniewski scored twice during the weekend series vs. Oral Roberts Feb. 26 & 28, and scored twice in the two games last weekend vs. South Dakota. Eight of her 15 shot attempts have been on goal this season.

Eden Brooker has two goals and two assists in 12 games played in 2021. Seven other Jackrabbits have scored a goal this season, including
Katherine Jones,
Kayla Anderson and
Avery LeBlanc who each recorded their first collegiate goals.

Rachel Hewitt has been one of the most aggressive shot takers for the Jacks through 12 games, recording 20 shots (10 on goal) while also adding four assists. Altogether, 10 Jackrabbits have recorded at least one assist.

SDSU has attempted 155 shots with 67 of them being on goal. Twelve Jackrabbits have recorded at least four shot attempts so far on the season.

State outscored its opponents 29-8 in 2019 and had a Summit League record 15 shutouts, ranking third nationally in shutout percentage. The Jackrabbits averaged 14.3 shots per contest, putting 126 of their 314 total efforts on goal. Defensively, SDSU limited opponents to 10.4 shots per game and allowed only nine goals for the season, including five in the final 17 games.

Returning for the Jacks is the reigning Summit League Freshman of the Year
Maya Hansen. A sophomore from Savage, Minnesota, Hansen finished second on the team in points (18) and goals (seven), along with four assists in her first season as a Jackrabbit. Hansen posted five game-winning goals in 2019 and started 20 games for the Jacks. Hansen earned spots on the All-Summit League Second Team and the Summit League All-Freshman Team in 2019.

Karlee Manding enters her junior year with the Jackrabbits after making the 2019 All-Summit League Second Team in 2019 and the Summit League All-Freshman Team in 2018. The midfielder from Waipahu, Hawaii has 23 career points and nine career goals over 2,000 career minutes. Karlee and her sister Kaycee have combined for 10 shots, four assists and six points this season.

SDSU brings back all three of its line of defenders to give the Jacks experience defensively.
Kaitlin Zabel was a member of the 2019 All-Summit League First team while
Gabby Vivier-Hannay was named to the 2019 All-Summit League Second Team. A senior from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Vivier-Hannay earned Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors after playing 177 minutes in the two shutout wins at Oral Roberts back on Feb. 26 & 28.

Scouting the Fighting Hawks
North Dakota enters the series vs. South Dakota State in sixth place in the Summit League standings with a 5-5 record.

After its first two conference games were postponed, the Fighting Hawks dropped their first two games against Omaha before sweeping Western Illinois. Since then, UND has split a series vs. North Dakota State, was swept against Denver and won both games against Kansas City to wrap up a six game homestand.Â

Opponents are outscoring North Dakota 18-13 this season as the Fighting Hawks have taken 112 shots (54 on goal). North Dakota has just five assists this season.Â

Megan Wright is the team leader in goals with three. Wright has attempted 10 shots this season with six of them being on goal.

Behind Wright, three other Fighting Hawks have two goals. Hannah Olson is the only player on the UND roster with 20+ shots with 24.

Madi Livingston is the lone UND goalkeeper. In 10 games, Livingston has played 901 minutes, has recorded 36 saves and allowed 18 goals.

Chris Logan is in his fourth season as head coach of the Fighting Hawks. North Dakota reached the Summit League Championship for the first time in program history in 2019 after finishing the regular season 10-7-1 overall and 4-4 in conference play. UND fell to Denver 3-0 in the championship semifinals. 2019 marked the third consecutive season the Fighting Hawks had finished with at least eight wins.

South Dakota State is 9-3-1 in the all-time series against UND, including a 3-0 win back on Oct. 6, 2019 at Fishback Soccer Park.

Dana J. Dykhouse "Futbol" Stadium
Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium has played host to the SDSU soccer program this season due to poor field conditions at Fishback Soccer Park. Before the six games this season, State's contest vs. Eastern Washington on Sept. 13, 2019 was moved to the stadium due to wet field conditions at Fishback Soccer Park. The Jacks defeated Eastern Washington in that game, 1-0.

The week of home soccer events, it will be determined no later than Wednesday whether Fishback Soccer Park or Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium will be the home venue, based on weather forecasts and field conditions.Â

Matches played at Fishback Soccer Park will be limited to current 2021 season ticket holders, player families and students. There will be no single-game sales available.

FARGO, N.D. – South Dakota State women's soccer posted its eighth shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over North Dakota State Sunday afternoon.

The Jackrabbits remain unbeaten this season as they improved to 8-0-4 on the season. SDSU outshot the Bison, who fell to 6-6-0, 15-11 in the contest.

Maya Hansen and
Kayla Wisniewski led the charge for the Jacks as they recorded four shots each.
Marisa Schulz added two shots in the game.

The Bison held a 4-2 advantage in shots in the opening frame until the Jackrabbits looked to capitalize on four attempts to close out the half, but the two squads remained scoreless at the break.

After 53 minutes of scoreless play, a pass from
Kaycee Manding found Hansen who fired a shot that made its way past NDSU's keeper to give the Jackrabbits a 1-0 lead. The rest of the contest was a back-and-forth affair, but South Dakota State held on for its eighth win of the season.

Defensive Dominance
The Jacks have not allowed more than three goals in 47 consecutive regular season games, dating back to the 2018 season. In that span, State has recorded 33 shutouts.

Overtime Thrillers
Six of South Dakota State's 12 games have been decided in overtime this season. After tying its opening two games at Omaha, the Jacks tied Denver March 12 and won 2-1 in double overtime March 14. Last weekend, the Jacks tied with South Dakota for its fourth draw of the season. State had just one tie in the 2019 regular season in addition to defeating Denver on penalty kicks in the Summit League Women's Soccer Championship.
