JACKS NAMED LEAGUE RUNNER-UPS

WEST FARGO, N.D. — The South Dakota State swimming and diving program turned in their final times of the season Saturday at day three of the 2021 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare.Â
SDSU picked up eight podium visits in six more events during the day to secure the title of Summit League runner-up on both the men's and women's side..
Gavin Wheeler kicked things off with a school record-setting 51.56 100 IM for second in the event and Cayden Christianson finished third with a 1:52.38. Marcus Benson took bronze with his 1:50.60 showing in the 200 back, while Max White turned in a 1:51.96 for gold in the men's 200 fly.Â
SDSU's squad of Emily Pincus, Grace Witherspoon, Emma Bachelder and Elisabeth Timmer took second with a 3:27.92 in the women's 400 free relay.
On the boards, State took two podium spots in the men's 3-meter dive when Zach Boyd took the title with 329.50 points while Erik Thompson followed in third with 299.85. Boy'd efforts over the weekend earned him Diving MVP of the Championship honors.
