South Dakota State forward Matt Dentlinger was named Thursday to the NCAA Division I 2020-21 Academic All-District 6 Men's Basketball Team, which is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A repeat selection to the six-player squad, Dentlinger has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average throughout his collegiate career as a mechanical engineering major. He will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration later this month.

On the court, the junior from Arcadia, Iowa, has played in 87 games with 62 starts over his three seasons with the Jackrabbits, and has averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 62.2 percent from the field. Dentlinger was a second-team all-Summit League performer during the 2019-20 season when he averaged 12.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

This past season, Dentlinger posted averages of 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, shooting a career-best 63.7 percent from the field.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District and All-America programs recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Academic All-District 6 Team is made up of student-athletes from institutions in Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Candidates must be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, a starter or key reserve on his team and carry at least a 3.3 GPA.
