South Dakota State men's basketball coach
Eric Henderson has completed his staff with the hiring of former Butler standout
Khyle Marshall as assistant coach.
"My wife and I are extremely excited to join Coach Henderson and the Jackrabbits family," Marshall said. "South Dakota State is a special place that carries a rich, winning tradition. It is a real honor to get the opportunity to help continue this program's success. I can't wait to get to work!"
Marshall brings to Brookings a diverse background of experience both on and off the court. He started 89 games during his four years at a student-athlete at Butler, averaging 9.8 points per game. He was a part of 91 wins and played in eight NCAA Tournament contests with the Bulldogs, including the 2011 National Championship game. He finished his career with 1,373 points and 609 rebounds while shooting 54.2 percent.
He parlayed that success into a four-year career as a professional in Japan, the Dominican Republic, Spain and Portugal. Marshall posted double figure scoring averages each season before retiring to enter the coaching ranks.
Marshall has served as an assistant coach at Florida Southwestern College, the video coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast and most recently the director of scouting at Illinois-Chicago.
Marshall and his wife, Olivia, are expecting their first child in September. Â Â
"We are elated to have Khyle and Olivia joining the Jackrabbit family," Henderson said. "Khyle will make an immediate positive impact on our program. His ability to relate to players and parents will help our program immensely. His experiences from his playing days and the connections he has made in his young coaching career will benefit him and our program for a long time. I can't wait for Khyle and Olivia to experience all the great things about Jackrabbit basketball and the Brookings community!"
