SDSU FALLS TO KANSAS STATE IN EXHIBITION

South Dakota State saw its first action of the 2021 season in an exhibition against Kansas State Thursday evening at Fishback Soccer Park. The Jacks struck first on Cecilia Limongi's goal in the 43rd minute, but a late charge from the Wildcats netted a pair of goals as SDSU fell, 2-1.
The two sides were even for much of the first half before freshman Teani Arakawa sent a beautiful ball up the middle that found the feet of Limongi. The senior made the most of the opportunity as she beat the keeper to put the Jacks on top late in the first half.
A late push and pair of Wildcat goals in the 81st minute were the difference in the contest. Kansas State drew level from the penalty spot after a Jackrabbit yellow card in the box before taking the lead for good 34 seconds later.
The sides split possession evenly during the 90-minute affair, but Kansas State out-shot SDSU, 12-7.
