MEN, WOMEN FINISH SECOND AT BISON TEAM CUP

Fargo, N.D. – South Dakota State men's and women's track teams kicked off 2022 with a series of career and top 10 showings Saturday at the Bison Team Cup in the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility.
Combined, the Jackrabbits posted 24 top-three finishes enroute to the men and women each placing in second at the event.
Wendy Van Nes took first in the women's pole vault and etched her name in the top-ten list by clearing 11-11.75 for third best in program history.
Savannah Risseeuw won the 60m hurdles in a career-best 8.79 seconds, solidifying her spot on the top-ten list in eighth place. Collette Wolfe took fourth in 9.12 seconds and Katelyn Darnell took fifth in 9.33 seconds in the same event.
Addison Eisenbeisz finished in third place in triple jump with a leap of 36-00.25 after placing in second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-06.00. Also in high jump, Madison Kizer took third with 5-04.25 and Ciara Benson took sixth with her jump of 4-10.25.
In the mile run, Jessica Christoffer placed in second, crossing the finish line in 5:01.43 for a career best. Also taking second place was Faith Leiseth who finished as runner up in shot up with a throw of 47-08.00.
Lizzy Gillingham took third in the women's 60m dash finals, claiming her finish in a career-best 7.95 seconds.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Laura Bogue, Tori Glazier, Emily Rystrom and Kasey Klocek finished in third with a time of 4:12.52.
On the men's side of the event, Trent Francom won the men's pole vault with a clearance of 17-05.50. Matthew Katz followed behind in second with his jump of 15-09.75, a career best and fourth best in program history.
In weight throw, Dominick Etherington took second place with a career-best throw of 57-10.50 that placed him in tenth place on the all-time list. Austin Eppard finished in third in the event with his throw of 55-09.25.
Tre Manning earned second place in the long jump with his leap of 22-09.00 while Tristin Hanna took first place in the triple with a distance of 46-05.50.
Josh Donahoe took fifth in the men's 60m hurdles in 8.34 seconds for a career best that also tied him for tenth best in school history.
Daniel Burkhalter earned a champion title in the mile run, crossing the finish line first with his time of 4:12.17.
In the 800m run, Riley Bauer and Blake Iverson finished the race in tandem, claiming second and third place respectively.
Emmanual Phoulom-Smith and Kudra Nzibariza each competed in the 60m and 200m dash. Phoulom-Smith took third in the 60 and second in the 200 while Nzibariza finished in fourth and third in the respective events. In the 60m, Phoulom-Smith took third in seven seconds flat as Nzibariza took fourth in 7.25 seconds. In the 200m, Phoulom-Smith finished in second in 22.63 seconds while Nzibariza finished in third in 22.87 seconds.
Jackrabbits dominated the men's 3000m run, led by Ben Anteau's first place finish in 8:39.38. Noah Stewart took third with his time of 8:42.05 while Cormick Logue placed fourth in 8:43.84.
The men's 4x400 team of Reggie Slaba, Andrew Moeller, Donahoe and Nzibariza placed second with a time of 3:33.31.
At the end of the event, the NDSU women claimed the Bison Team Cup with 259 points. SDSU took second with 139 points while North Dakota finished in third with 63 points. NDSU men also won their respective title, taking first with 227 points. SDSU again placed second with 160 points as North Dakota took third with 7 points.
Up Next: The track teams will return home to host the D2 Invitational on Friday, Jan. 21 with events scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
