CLEVELAND, Ohio — South Dakota State offensive lineman Aron Johnson is one of 50 student-athletes named to the 24th Annual Academic All-Star Team as selected by the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association.
A native of Chisago City, Minnesota, Johnson was a three-year starter at the tackle positions for the Jackrabbits who completed his collegiate playing career this fall. He earned a spot on the honor squad after compiling a 3.82 grade-point average while majoring in pharmacy.

Football players from all FCS institutions are eligible for the award. Each of the nominees was required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials. They must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. They also must have participated in 50 percent of the games played at their designated position.
Johnson's selection marks the 16th consecutive season SDSU has had at least one student-athlete honored on the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team. Cory Koenig (2007), Ryan Berry (2008), Zach Zenner (2014), Taryn Christion (2018) and Preston Tetzlaff (2020-21) were also honored as FCS ADA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients.
