SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced its 2022 Women's Soccer All-League Awards on Thursday, Oct. 27, and South Dakota State had 11 student-athletes recognized for their performance during the regular season.Â
Â
Leading SDSU with honors were
Maya Hansen and
Jocelyn Tanner. Hansen was named The Summit League Offensive Player of the Year and Tanner repeated as The Summit League Goalkeeper of the Year.Â
Â
Hansen led the conference in scoring in multiple statistical categories despite missing two games. She had a league-high 11 goals, five game-winning goals and 27 points in 16 overall contests. More than half her goals came in league action as she notched braces versus Western Illinois (Oct. 9) and North Dakota State (Oct. 23). She ranks sixth in Division I women's soccer in game-winning goals and ranks among the top 20 individuals in goals per game (0.69), points per game (1.69), goals and points.Â
Â
SDSU's all-time points leader (96), while sitting in a tie for the program goals record (39), Hansen is a three-time First Team selection. She is the fifth Jackrabbit to earn Offensive Player of the Year accolades joining Leah Manuleleua (2019), Diana Potterveld (2014), Kayla Braffett (2011) and Danni Healy (2010).Â
Â
Tanner claimed back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Year awards from The Summit League as she and
Hailee Fischer combined for one of the best seasons ever at SDSU at the position. Tanner gave up one goal in conference play and put together a .917 save percentage, along with a 5-0-1 record, through nine halves of soccer.Â
Â
Across 810 minutes during the season, Tanner recorded an .893 save percentage and .333 goals-against average with both ranks putting her fourth in the nation. Tanner joins
Maggie Smither as SDSU's only Goalkeeper of the Year winners, with Smither earning the accolade every season from 2017-19.Â
Â
Nearly half of the All-Summit League First Team was made up by South Dakota State. Hansen and Tanner each made the squad and were joined by
Karlee Manding,
Kaycee Manding and
Laney Murdzek.Â
Â
Karlee Manding was selected for her second All-Summit League Team and was honored as a First Team choice for the first time in her career. Manding played in all 18 games in the midfield for the Jacks and finished with a team- and league-high 10 assists. That total ranks her sixth in Division I and is the second most assists in a single season by a Jackrabbit. Her 10 points also slot her third on the team's leaderboard.Â
Â
Kaycee Manding claimed her first All-Summit League honors for the Jackrabbits as she stood out at her defender position. She recorded five assists on the season, which ranked second on the team and was tied for the fourth highest mark in the conference. Manding also played 1,306 minutes during the regular season which was third most on the squad. She was an All-Newcomer Team choice in the spring of 2021.Â
Â
Laney Murdzek, an All-Newcomer Team pick last year, earned All-Summit League First Team designation this season. She scored 11 points behind four goals and three assists which ranked her second on the SDSU roster. Nine of her points came in Summit League play as she recorded three game-winning goals for the Jacks. She was fourth on the team in minutes played with 1,179.Â
Â
A trio of Jackrabbits were chosen as 2022 All-Summit League Second Team selections.
Avery Murdzek made the Second Team for the second consecutive season, while
Reagan Anderson and
Hayley Lindaman were honored with all-league accolades for the first time in their college careers.Â
Â
Avery Murdzek finished fifth on the team in scoring with seven points despite missing two games. She continued to be a presence in her limited time this year producing 29 shots for the Jackrabbits which was third on the SDSU roster. She tallied the game-winning goal in a win at Grand Canyon (Aug. 21) and found the back of the net at Northern Arizona (Aug. 23) and against Omaha (Oct. 2).Â
Â
Anderson played in all 18 games and made 16 starts for the Jackrabbits at the defensive midfield position. She has registered a career-high five points this season behind two goals and an assist. Anderson has been a mainstay on the field for the Jacks playing all 90 minutes in a scoreless draw versus Denver on Sept. 30 and 81 minutes in a 1-0 win over Oral Roberts on Oct. 14.Â
Â
Lindaman has already played a season-high 1,396 minutes this year which is the second highest total for the Jackrabbits. The center back competed in all 18 games and started in all but one contest. Lindaman played all 90 minutes in all five of SDSU's shutouts during The Summit League schedule and is part of a group that gave up just eight goals all season.
Â
Seniors
Cece Limongi and
Rachel Preston were recognized as honorable mentions to the 2022 All-Summit League Team. Limongi finished fourth in points for SDSU with eight on the season behind three goals and two assists. She produced the second highest shot total for the Jackrabbits with 31. Preston led the Jacks in minutes played with 1,403 over the course of the season as a part of SDSU's back row. The defender has been an All-Summit League choice on two prior occasions and was the 2021 Summit League Tournament MVP.Â
Â
Freshman
