ST. LOUIS — South Dakota State left guard Mason McCormick was honored Monday with the Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week award.
A senior from Sioux Falls, McCormick graded at 92 percent with seven finish blocks as South Dakota State racked up 458 yards of total offense in a 34-10 victory over Western Illinois on Oct. 1. McCormick helped clear the way for Isaiah Davis to rush for 199 yards as the Jackrabbits finished with 270 yards on the ground and accumulated more than 41 minutes in time of possession.
Davis was named Sunday as the MVFC Offensive Player of the Week, giving the Jackrabbits two honorees for the first time this season.
SDSU, 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league play, hosts South Dakota on Saturday. Kickoff for the South Dakota Showdown Series contest is slated for 2 p.m. at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
