CHICAGO — Four South Dakota State players, highlighted by first-team honorees Garret Greenfield and Caleb Sanders, were named Tuesday to the Stats Perform FCS All-America Team.
Â
In addition, offensive lineman Mason McCormick earned second-team honors and tight end Tucker Kraft was a third-team selection.
Â
A senior from Rock Valley, Iowa, Greenfield has manned the left tackle position for a Jackrabbit squad averaging 33.4 points and 375.9 yards of total offense per game. He earned first-team recognition from Stats Perform for the second time in his career, first receiving the honor during the 2020-21 spring season.
Â
Sanders has been a force at the defensive tackle position for South Dakota State's top-ranked rushing defense. The senior from Glenwood, Iowa, has registered 36 total tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
Â
McCormick helped anchor a Jackrabbit offense line that has paved the way for the team to rush for 177.6 yards per game and has allowed only 17 sacks in advancing to the FCS national championship game this season. The Sioux Falls native has started 41 consecutive games at left guard.
Â
A junior from Timber Lake, Kraft was sidelined by injury for the first half of the 2022 season, but was a key contributor for the stretch run of the regular season and into the postseason. A first-team honoree a season ago, Kraft has caught a total of 25 passes for 318 yards with three touchdowns in eight games.
Â
South Dakota State has set a school record with 13 wins this season and will face Missouri Valley Football Conference rival North Dakota State for the FCS title on Sunday, Jan. 8, in Frisco, Texas.
