TRACK TAKES FIRST AND SECOND AT HOLIDAY INVITE

BROOKINGS, SD – The South Dakota State University men's track and field team took first place and the women finished second at the SDSU Holiday Invitational and Multi following the final day of competition.
Discus throw and the final events of the men's heptathlon were on showcase Saturday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex and served as the final tallying points toward the team scores.
In the women's discus, four Jackrabbits competed in the finals and it was Faith Leiseth who led the way for SDSU. She placed second with a throw of 147-06.25 while Catylynn Duff scored a PR with her distance of 146-00.00 for third place.
True Thorne finished in fifth place with a throw of 135-11.25 and Milee Young took sixth with a 132-09.50.
As for the men's discus, Wyatt Seagren claimed third place with his personal best of 161-10.25 and Ethan Fischer made his Jackrabbit debut with a 159-00.25 for fourth place and a PR.
The men's heptathlon wrapped up with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meter run. Newcomer Ryan Benson finished with 4626 points, which is a new personal best and the seventh best mark in school history. Tanner Lunders also made his first appearance as a Jackrabbit and scored 4047 points for fifth place.
SDSU's men take first place out of 13 teams in the final standings with 171 points. South Dakota took second with 134.5 points and Dordt grabbed third with 67.5 points.
The women were second out of 11 teams in the final scores with 156.5 points as South Dakota finished in first with 180 points. Dordt rounded out the top three with 49 points
UP NEXT: SDSU is scheduled to return to action Jan. 14 at the NDSU Bison Team Cup in Fargo, ND.
