South Dakota State men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Iowa and Kansas for a trio of meets this weekend.

The Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa run Thursday through Saturday with multiple morning and evening sessions, while the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa starts at 7 p.m. Thursday and resumes at 10 a.m. on Friday. Finally, the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence, Kansas takes place on Saturday with field events starting at 9:30 a.m. and running events kicking off at 2:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: Faith Leiseth rewrote history on April 23 with a new personal best in the discus throw that is now number one in the school record books.

Her 174-01.50 performance gave her a fifth place finish at the South Dakota Challenge, while Mildred Young took 10th place with a career-best distance of 167-06.00 for the sixth best mark in school history.

Leiseth also took fifth place in the shot put with a throw of 47-04.50.

Also in Vermillion,
Kylee Edmonds cleared a career-best 11-08.50 in the pole vault that placed her sixth overall in the event and seventh on the all-time list.

Shae Campbell took seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17-11.75.
Â
Collette Wolfe finished fourth overall in the 100-meter dash in 11.89 seconds as Lizzy Gillingham takes 10
th in 12.10 seconds.

Wolfe also grabbed a fourth place finish in the 200-meter dash in 24.84 seconds while
Ashtyn Bertram finished 10
th in 25.27 seconds.

Laura Bogue tied for eighth overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.86.

In the 800-meter run,
Grace Waage took sixth in 2:18.83 as
Kasey Klocek (2:20.21) grabbed 10
th and
Harley Fischer (2:21.62) finished 14
th.
Â
SDSU dominated the women's 1500-meter run, placing four in the top 10.
Nicole Greyer led the way with her runner-up finish in 4:41.63 for a PR while
Caitlin Bright took third (4:42.64, PR),
Kayla Christopherson finished sixth (4:51.89, PR) and
Bailey Dergan finished ninth (4:56.01, PR).

Abbey Stadler finished just outside of the top 10 with her 13
th place finish in 5:04.74 for a career best.

On the men's side of competition, four Jacks finished in the top 10 of the 100-meter dash.
Daniel Clarke took fifth in 10.56 seconds,
Matthew Stahl was seventh in 10.59,
Emmanual Phoulom-Smith finished eighth in 10.61 seconds and
Evan Henderson grabbed ninth in 10.71 seconds.

Stahl also finished third overall in the 200-meter dash in 21.30 as
Jake Werner took 12
th in 21.90 second and Phoulom-Smith finished 13
th in 21.92 seconds.

Tegan Bock claimed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.28 seconds for a PR as
Braxton Karnik also scored a PR in 57.52 seconds for ninth place.

Dawson Schroeder took 10
th overall in the hammer throw with a distance of 185-08.00 (PR, ninth all time) while
Hunter Wallster finished 11
th with a throw of 184-11.00 (PR, 10
th all time).

Dominick Etherington finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 56-02.75 as Schroeder took tenth with a throw of 52-00.00.

In the discus throw,
Austin Eppard finished ninth with a distance of 169-00.75 for a PR.

Finally,
Tyler Goehring took fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 44-08.00.

The SDSU track team was also competing at the Red Wolf Open in Jonesboro, Arkansas where even more Jackrabbit success came to fruition.

Trent Francom earned runner-up in the pole vault with a height of 17-05.50 while
Jaden Peters finished tenth with a career-best clearance of 15-05.00.

Tristen Hanna took fifth in the javelin with a throw of 182-05.00 for a PR, which is now tied for fifth on the all-time. Hanna also finished third overall in the triple jump with a distance of 47-07.25.

On the women's side, Wendy Van Nes clears 12-02.00 for a fourth place finish in the pole vault as
Addison Eisenbeisz finished third in the high jump with a clearance of 5-07.00.

Annie Wendt lept her way into a third place finish in the triple jump with a distance 38-06.75.
Â
Jaiden Boomsma finished as runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 11.93 seconds after winning the long jump with a leap of 18-11.25 as Wendt earned fourth in a 18-06.50.

PIERZINSKI HONORED BY SUMMIT LEAGUE: South Dakota State'
Reid Pierzinski has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week, league officials announced April 12th.

Pierzinski won the 400m hurdles in a time career-best time of 51.18. His winning time broke the SDSU school record in the event and moved up to the top mark in the league this season. The Nisswa, Minn. native's winning time ranks 23
rd nationally in the event. He also ran a leg of the 4x100m relay team that took second with a time of 41.59.

Pierzinski joins
Riley Bauer as Jackrabbits recognized with the accolade so far this season.

REGIONAL RANKINGS: The fourth Division I outdoor track and field rankings of the season determined by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association were announced earlier this week with the Jackrabbit men moved up one spot to No. 18 in the Midwest Region as the SDSU also women moved to 18
th place.

SDSU MEN PICKED FIRST, WOMEN THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL: After winning the Summit League indoor title a month ago, the South Dakota State men's track and field team has been tabbed as the favorite during the outdoor season by the slimmest of margins in a vote among the league's coaches.

- Earned a trip to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships after placing second in the West Prelims with a mark of 17-10.50 (5.45m)
- Finished third at the 2021 Summit League Outdoor Championships with a vault of 18-00.50 (5.50m)
- Set a personal-best and school-record mark in the pole vault at the USD Early Bird meet with a mark of 18-04.75 (5.61m)
Ben Olson, South Dakota State

- Finished fourth in the discus and 13th in the shot put at the 2021 Summit League Outdoor Championships
UP NEXT: The SDSU track teams will journey south to Vermillion on May 6 for the USD Twilight in the final competition week before league championships.
