SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota State's
Matt Dentlinger was voted to the Summit League's All-Academic Team for the third consecutive season, conference officials announced Wednesday.
A native of Arcadia, Iowa, Dentlinger compiled a 3.99 grade-point average as a graduate student in engineering. He attained a perfect 4.0 GPA as an undergraduate student in mechanical engineering, earning academic all-league honors in each of the previous two seasons.
On the court, Dentlinger played in all 35 games this season with 12 starts. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while shooting 61.5 percent from the field and 80 percent at the free throw line for a Jackrabbit squad that won both Summit League regular season and tournament titles en route to a school record 30 victories.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
The team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing, with voting done by the institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.
