SUMMIT LEAGUE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP |
South Dakota State hosts the Summit League Tournament May 11-14 in Brookings. The Jacks received a first-round bye and will take on the winner of Kansas City vs. South Dakota at 11 a.m. Thursday.
SDSU is 37-10 overall and went 18-2 in Summit action to win its second consecutive regular season title. SDSU has won 16 straight Summit League games and 16 of its last 17 overall.
South Dakota State leads the Summit League in a number of categories, including ERA (0.71), home runs (40), on-base percentage (.417) and slugging percentage (.622).
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State ended the Summit League regular season at 18-2 to win its second straight league title.
- The Jackrabbits landed eight All-Summit League honorees, including taking four of the five individual awards.
- Rozelyn Carrillo was named the Summit League Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Grace Glanzer is the Pitcher of the Year and Krista Wood is the Coach of the Year.
- Rozelyn Carrillo is batting .405 on the season and .477 in Summit League games. Her conference batting average, hits (31) and RBIs (25) were all league bests.
- Defensively, Carrillo was one of 11 players to record a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in Summit League games.
- Grace Glanzer posted a league-best 0.63 ERA in conference contests while tossing seven complete games and collecting four shutouts. She was the only pitcher without a loss in the Summit season.
- The Jackrabbits enter the tournament on a 21-game home win streak, the second longest in the nation, and trails only No. 1 Oklahoma (W38).
- The Jackrabbits went 39-3 in Summit League games over the past two seasons on their way to back-to-back regular season titles.
- SDSU outscored its Summit League opponents 140-17 during the regular season .
- Rozelyn Carrillo carries a program record 24-game hit streak into the tournament.
- Four Jackrabbits are hitting above .315 overall - Rozelyn Carrillo (.405), Allison Yoder (.340), Lindsey Culver (.319) and Peyton Daugherty (.317).
- The SDSU pitching staff held its Summit League opponents to a .150 batting average while posting a 0.71 ERA, both league bests.
- Grace Glanzer's 0.63 ERA in conference games led the Summit League. Tori Kniesche's .80 ERA ranks second.
- Cylie Halvorson's 15 home runs overall leads the team and the Summit League. She had 19 last season, a new school record.
- Rozelyn Carrillo has 17 multi-hit games this season while Emma Osmundson has 15 and Cylie Halvorson and Peyton Daugherty have 13 apiece.
