SEVEN QUALIFY FOR NCAA WEST PRELIMS

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA – South Dakota State track and field will send seven athletes to the 2022 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field West Prelims in Fayetteville, Arkansas
The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants on Thursday, May 19.
Riley Bauer, Daniel Burkhalter, Trent Francom, Oksana Johnson, Faith Leiseth, Cailee Peterson and Reid Pierzinski will all represent the Jackrabbits at the competition which takes place May 25-28.
These seven athletes are among the top 48 declared entries for individual events in the West Region. The top 12 finishers in each event at the West and East Preliminary rounds will advance to compete at the NCAA Championships held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon.
The qualifiers are as follows:
Riley Bauer (800-meter run, 1:49.02, 29th)
Daniel Burkhalter (1500-meter run, 3:42.44, 37th)
Trent Francom (pole vault, 17-05.50, 5.32m, 17th)
Oksana Johnson (800-meter run, 2:05.48, 25th)
Faith Leiseth (discus throw, 174-01.00, 53.07m, 32nd)
Cailee Peterson (1500-meter run, 4:19.10, 25th)
Reid Pierzinski (400-meter hurdles, 50.91, 20th)
