AUCTION RAISES RECORD $1.59 MILLION

The Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction raised more than $1 million for the sixth consecutive year, doing so in record-setting style.
More than 1,000 people attended the April 30 event at South Dakota State University's Frost Arena. The event generated a record $1.59 million for student-athlete scholarships thanks in large part to a 2-to-1 matching gift from an anonymous donor. Nearly 400 items were up for bids between the silent and live auctions.
"Time and again our Jackrabbit family has risen to the occasion to make significant investments in our student-athletes and to be able to raise nearly a third of our annual scholarship costs in one night is truly remarkable," SDSU Director of Athletics Justin Sell said. "As we near the end of what has arguably been our most successful year yet, the Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction has once again proven to be one of the premier fundraising events in all of college athletics."
The Jackrabbit Athletic Scholarship Auction first went over the $1 million mark in 2017. The previous record of $1.15 million was set in 2020, when the event was held entirely in a virtual format during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. That event also raised $372,000 for Feeding South Dakota and another $207,000 for high-need scholarships at SDSU.
