FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - South Dakota State's
Reid Pierzinski and
Daniel Burkhalter competed in the quarterfinal round at the NCAA West Prelims Friday at John McDonnell Field on the University of Arkansas campus. Both athletes came up short of advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Pierzinski finished 14th overall and sixth in his heat of the 400-meter hurdles. The junior clocked a 50.99, falling .46 shy of the top 12 and qualifying for a trip to the NCAA Championships.
Daniel Burkhalter finished 23rd in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:52.20.
Faith Leiseth (discus, 1 p.m.), Cailee Peterson (1500 meters. 5:15 p.m.) and Leah Hansen (5000 meters, 8:10 p.m.) will represent the Jackrabbit women on the final day of the NCAA West Prelims as the trio looks to qualify for a trip to Oregon.
