GRAND FORKS, N.D. - South Dakota State volleyball picked up a 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19) road win over North Dakota Tuesday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
The Jackrabbits (8-7, 2-1 Summit) were led by
Crystal Burk's 16 kills and 17 digs, her fifth straight double-double and 12th of the year. Freshman
Masa Scheierman added a career-best 15 kills, five digs, two blocks and an ace serve.
SDSU hit .280 in the match, its third best clip of the season, while holding UND to .169. Middle blocker
Sydney Andrews notched eight kills on 12 attacks with no errors for a .667 attack rate, her career high when tallying more than three kills.
Raegen Reilly gave out 43 assists and recorded 11 digs, her seventh double-double of the season, to go with two blocks and an ace.
Jadyn Makovicka had 16 digs and four assists.
As a team the Jackrabbits put down six service aces, led by two from
Elyse Winter.
The Jackrabbits led start to finish in the opening set while hitting .364. A kill apiece from Burk and Scheierman during a four-point run gave the Jackrabbits a 14-7 lead. The sides traded points until another 4-0 stretch pushed the SDSU lead to 24-13. Following three points by the Hawks a
Katie Van Egdom kill ended the set 25-16.
Set two was tight early, with neither side leading by more than two until a UND error gave the Jacks a 9-6 lead. Scheierman served an ace for the 18-14 advantage and another ace by Reilly made it a 21-16 game. A three-point run by the Fighting Hawks pulled them back within two before the Jacks ended the set on a 4-2 run.
Tied at 14 in the third set the Fighting Hawks recorded back-to-back kills to take a two-point lead. The Jackrabbits took the 18-17 lead on a UND error before the Hawks extended the match with an 8-3 run to end the set.
Down 5-1 in the fourth set, the Jacks rallied to regain the advantage at 11-9 and force a UND timeout. Scheierman had two kills in the stretch and Makovicka had an ace serve. Burk put down two kills during a 6-0 SDSU run that extended the lead to 18-11. North Dakota cut the deficit to one at 19-18 before the Jacks ended the match with a 6-1 run capped off by a Scheierman solo block.
Sierra Ward and Elizabeth Norris had 12 and 10 kills, respectively, to lead North Dakota. Norris also dished 22 assists and Kortney Carney collected 19 digs. The Fighting Hawks move to 5-9 on the season and 2-1 in the Summit League.

- The Jackrabbits have won five straight matches over the Fighting Hawks, a streak dating back to the 2019 season.
- Crystal Burk has led the Jackrabbits in kills in all 15 matches this season.
