DATE SET FOR MARK STEINBORN MEMORIAL TRACK DEDICATION

BROOKINGS, SD – South Dakota State University will dedicate the track at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on campus in memory of Mark Steinborn with a ceremony during the home meet on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Dedication will take place at 1:45 p.m. and will be followed by the Phil LaValle Alumni Mile. For those who do not wish to run a mile, all track and field alums are welcome to walk a lap around the Mark Steinborn Memorial Track.
The track and field program will host a reception for alumni from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the southwest corner of the SJAC. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.
A $1 million gift was generously given for the dedication in memory of the former student athlete and longtime supporter by Miles and Lisa Beacom with support from Mark's wife Carolyn and the Steinborn family.
In addition, the Beacoms have agreed to match (up to $1 million) to the Mark Steinborn Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund will provide scholarship resources to both the men's and women's track and field teams.
