High school standouts Jordan Kuhnau and Nate Wachter have been accepted for admission at South Dakota State University and plan to join the Jackrabbit baseball team next fall, SDSU head coach
Rob Bishop announced Monday.
Â
JORDAN KUHNAU
An infielder from Garfield, Minnesota, Kuhnau (pronounced COO-now) earned first-team all-state honors after a junior season in which he batted .367 with five home runs and 22 runs batted in for Alexandria High School. He plans to major in exercise science.
Â
Coach Bishop's Comments: "Jordan is a physical left-handed hitter with power to all fields. He's a raw player with a lot of potential."
Â
NATE WACHTER
A catcher/infielder from Blair, Nebraska, Wachter (pronounced WOK-ter) has been a two-time all-conference performer at Blair High School. As a junior, he batted .333 and threw out 42 percent of would-be base-stealers. He also has received academic all-conference recognition and plans to pursue a degree in pre-physical therapy.
Â
Coach Bishop's Comments: "Nate is a baseball player. He can play all over the diamond at a really high level and has a good bat to go with his versatility."
Â
Kuhnau and Wachter join a 2024 Jackrabbit recruiting class that included seven signees earlier this month. South Dakota State competes in The Summit League and reached the conference championship game during the 2023 season.
