Wide receiver Griffin Wilde was named Tuesday as South Dakota State's lone representative to the 2023 Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Newcomer Team.

A true freshman from Sioux Falls, Wilde finished the regular season ranked second on the team with five touchdown receptions. He has averaged 19.8 yards every time he has touched the ball, catching a total of 16 passes for 299 yards and returning a pair of kickoffs for 57 yards.

The Jackrabbits completed the regular season 11-0 and won their second consecutive MVFC title with an 8-0 mark. SDSU has been awarded the top seed in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs and begins defense of its national title by hosting Mercer Saturday afternoon at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
