WACO, Texas — South Dakota State running back Isaiah Davis and offensive tackle Garret Greenfield were honored Wednesday as first-team members of the 2023 AFCA FCS Coaches' All-America Team.Â
A senior from Joplin, Missouri, Davis topped the 1,000-yard mark during regular season play and has upped his season rushing total to 1,491 yards (106.5 ypg) with three more 100-yard performances during the Jackrabbits' most recent postseason run. Davis has scored 17 touchdowns and has averaged 6.8 yards per carry while adding 22 receptions for 196 yards and a touchdown.
Greenfield, a senior from Rock Valley, Iowa, received the award for the second time in his career after being previously honored as a right tackle during the 2020-21 spring season. He has started at left tackle each of the past two seasons for a Jackrabbit program that has allowed only 10 sacks during the 2023 campaign.
Greenfield's line mate, left guard Mason McCormick, also was honored by the American Football Coaches Association for the second time as one of two Jackrabbits to receive second-team recognition. A Sioux Falls native and a first-team selection in 2022, McCormick has helped pave the way for the Jackrabbits to average 38.4 points and 456.1 yards of offense per game while maintaining nearly a 50-50 split between rushing and passing.
Junior quarterback Mark Gronowski completed the Jackrabbit contingent with a second-team selection. One of the top-three finalists for the Walter Payton Award, Gronowski ended the 11-game regular season leading the FCS in passing efficiency and has maintained that ranking through three playoff games with a 182.72 rating while throwing for 2,883 yards and 28 touchdowns against only four interceptions. The native of Naperville, Illinois, also has rushed for seven touchdowns and 349 yards during an undefeated 2023 campaign.

South Dakota State has reached the FCS national title game for the third time in four seasons. The Jackrabbits are the defending FCS champions and bring a 28-game winning streak into their Jan. 7 matchup against No. 2 seed Montana in Frisco, Texas.
