South Dakota State continues its trek across the Lone Star State this week.Â

The Jackrabbits take on Stephen F. Austin in a doubleheader in Nacogdoches on Wednesday starting at 11 a.m. SDSU then participates in the I-35 Tournament hosted by Texas State from Friday-Sunday. All three opponents at the event held in San Marcos by Texas State, which includes Abilene Christian and New Mexico State, will be first time foes for the Jackrabbits.Â

SDSU has opened the season with a 4-1 overall record. The Jacks split their first two games on opening day in Houston, then won all three of their matchups at the Bearkat Classic in Huntsville.

SDSU has been led by some timely hitting and stellar pitching through five games. Tori Kniesche has made three scoreless appearances in the circle, including a no-hitter at Sam Houston, and was named on Monday as The Summit League's TicketSmarter Co-Peak Pitcher of the Year. Shannon Lasey also has a 0.00 ERA and owns a 2-0 record.

Tori Tollefson is SDSU's leading hitter by batting average with her .444 mark in four games played while she's also slugging 1.000. Mia Jarecki paces the team with 11 total bases as she and Cheyanne Masterson are tied for a team-high five hits. Jarecki, Tollefson and Rozelyn Carrillo each have hit home runs. Leading the team with two RBIs apiece are Tollefson, Emma Osmundson, Lindsey Culver and Brooke Dumont.
