SIOUX FALLS — For the second time this season, South Dakota State right-hander Jake Goble has been honored as TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week.
A sophomore from Rapid City, Goble pitched seven shutout innings in an April 23 start against St. Thomas, allowing three hits while striking out five without a walk. He retired 14 consecutive batters in one stretch in improving to 4-1 on the season. His seven innings marked the longest outing by a Jackrabbit pitcher this season.
Goble's victory, which came in the second game of a doubleheader, was the Jackrabbits' ninth consecutive win and helped SDSU move into second place in the league standings.
Goble previously was honored with the weekly award March 20.Â
South Dakota State resumes action Wednesday at Nebraska, followed by a three-game weekend series at league-leading Oral Roberts.
