MVFC RECOGNIZES 74 JACKRABBITS FOR ACADEMICS

ST. LOUIS — Three South Dakota State football student-athletes are among the 51 league-wide to be honored with the Missouri Valley Football Conference's highest academic achievement by being named a recipient of the President's Council Academic Award.
Representing the Jackrabbits on the list were DyShawn Gales, Ryan Van Marel and Reece Winkelman. The President's Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (through Fall 2022 semester) and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.  The student-athlete must be scheduled to graduate by the end of the summer of 2023. Â
In all, 74 SDSU football student-athletes were honored academically for their work in the classroom this past season as members of the MVFC Honor Roll. To qualify for the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2022), must have been a member of the football team, and must have been enrolled full time during the fall.
Within the Honor Roll group, 28 Jackrabbits received the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the previous two semesters (freshmen not eligible).
Across the MVFC's 11 member schools, more than 700 student-athletes earned Honor Roll recognition. A full listing of SDSUÂ honorees is below.
