JACKS RACK IN TOP FIVE FINISHES AT VERMILLION

VERMILLION, SD – Multiple top five finishes and new entries to the all-time top 10 list at SDSU highlighted The Monday Meet for South Dakota State track and field at the Lillibridge Track Complex on April 24.
Reggie Slaba was first to jump into SDSU history has he clocked a 48.26 in the men's 400-meter dash for a second place finish in the event and the eighth fastest time on record.
Connor Powers then took fourth place overall in the high jump after clearing a personal best 6-08.50, which is now the seventh best mark in school history.
Jenna Johnson won the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 1:02.11 that now sits fourth on the SDSU all-time list. Laura Bogue and Abby Hughes also clocked PRs in the event with times of 1:04.03 and 1:05.34, respectively.
As for other top five finishes, Greta Johnson cleared a height of 10-09.50 in the pole vault for fourth place.
Faith Leiseth represented SDSU in the finals of the discus and took fifth place overall with her mark of 153-00.75 as Catylynn Duff made the finals of the hammer throw and took eighth with a 162-10.50.
Leiseth and Duff each then made the finals of the shot put with Amanda Pettersson and Meghan Hettinga. Leiseth won the event (47-00.25), Pettersson came sixth (41-09.75), Hettinga was seventh (40-11.50) and Duff finished ninth (40-01.50).
Nora Peterson won the javelin with her mark of 131-02.00 as Paige Haakenson threw a 104-03.25 for third place and Taylor Haring took fifth with a personal best 99-09.25.
In the long jump, Annie Wendt (fourth, 17-08.00), Layne Kirkendoll (fifth, 17-05.50) and Shae Campbell (ninth, 16-06.00) all made the finals.
Camryn Brinkman took third in the triple jump with her mark of 35-08.75 and Emma Smith finished fifth with a 34-07.00. Sydney Mouw took sixth with a distance of 34-05.00 and Shae Campbell came seventh with a 34-03.00.
Madison Kizer cleared 5-05.00 for third place in the high jump while Taylor Jochum finished fourth with a 5-01.00 and Hadley Carlson came fifth with a 5-01.00.
Lizzy Gillingham led the way in the 100-meter dash, running a personal best 12.49 for fifth place. Elaina Rice was eighth with a 13.07 for a PR and Cora Shull took ninth with a personal best 13.12.
Savannah Risseeuw claimed second place in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.54 seconds while Brielle Dixon took fourth in 14.89 and Gillingham finished seventh with a personal best 16.35.
Jessica Boekelheide clocked a 26.47 in the 200-meter dash to take third place as Shull ran a 27.40 for fourth and Rice finished eighth in 27.72 seconds.
Boekelheide then claimed runner-up in the 400-meter dash in a personal best 59.31 seconds while Emily Rystrom finished fourth in 1:00.75.
Three Jackrabbits placed in the top five of the 1500-meter run, led by Sierra Watterud in second place with a personal best time of 4:54.91. Abby Deutsch ran a 5:01.57 for fourth place and a PR while Emma Gonzalez took fifth in 5:02.70.
On the men's side of competition, Ethan Fischer won the men's discus throw with his mark of 169-04.00.
Hunter Wallster earned the title of runner-up in the hammer throw with his mark of 191-10.75 as Calob Jones finished in fifth with a 169-04.75.
Matthew Katz and Jaden Peters finished back-to-back in the pole vault after taking second (15-10.50) and third place (15-10.50), respectively.
Sam Rohlfs won the long jump with his personal best-tying mark of 22-00.25. He then claimed runner-up in the triple jump with his mark of 44-06.25 while Max Keefer finished third with a personal best distance of 44-05.25.
Ty Kadlec took third in the 100-meter dash with a clocking of 11.16 as Caden Plasier ran a personal best 11.20 for fourth place. Andrew Law also earned a PR in 11.46 seconds.
In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Ryan Benson clocked a 15.29 for fifth place while Law took ninth place with a 15.98.
Kudra Nzibariza came fourth in the 200-meter dash after clocking a 22.65 as Kadlec finished fifth in 22.73 and Plasier took eight with a 23.13.
Jeremiah Donahoe finished in fourth place of the 400-meter hurdles with his personal best time of 57.21.
Andrew Moeller ran a 1:55.95 for second place in the 800-meter run as Tyler O'Neill took eighth place with a personal best time of 2:02.76.
Nathan Notgrass finished as runner-up in the 1500-meter run with his new personal best time of 3:58.12.
A LOOK AHEAD: SDSU will continue a busy week of competition at the Kip Javrin Open, Drake Relays and Rock Chalk Classic from April 27 to 29.
