ST. PAUL, Minn. – South Dakota State earned its third victory in two days over St. Thomas as the Jackrabbits defeated St. Thomas, 8-0, on Monday at the Tommies' South Field.Â

The first three innings featured just one hit between the two sides as starting pitchers
Tori Kniesche of SDSU and Keira Murphy of St. Thomas controlled things to start.Â

SDSU took the lead in the fourth. Two errors to begin the inning put two runners on for the Jackrabbits.
Allison Yoder was walked to load the bases, then
Jocelyn Carrillo crushed a double off the left-field fence to score
Emma Osmundson and
Rozelyn Carrillo.Â

The Jacks held a 2-0 edge through five innings before breaking the game open in the sixth.Â

Jocelyn Carrillo doublde and
Lindsey Culver singled to begin the frame, then a double steal by the pair made it a 3-0 margin. Following a walk to
Alexa Williams,
Cheyanne Masterson produced an RBI single that resulted in two throwing errors and allowed two runs to score to extend the SDSU lead to 5-0. A sacrifice fly by
Mia Jarecki made it 6-0 and RBI double by
Rozelyn Carrillo extended the advantage to 7-0 as the Jackrabbits batted through the order.Â

Kniesche's day came to an end after five innings of no-hit ball. She allowed just one baserunner via walk while striking out nine Tommie hitters.
Shannon Lasey came on in relief and gave up a single and walk, but escaped the sixth by keeping St. Thomas off the board.Â

Culver put a cap on the scoring in the top of the seventh with a one-out solo home run. It was her fifth of the season and the team's first win in conference action as her blast made it 8-0. The Tommies had two runners again reach base in the seventh behind an error and hit by pitch. Lasey produced a strikeout and two groundouts in the inning to close out the shutout.

- The Jackrabbits improved to 20-14 overall and 3-0 in Summit League play with the series sweep over St. Thomas. The Tommies dropped to 8-24 and 0-5 in their conference slate.Â
- Kniesche picked up her second Summit League victory of the season and is 12-4 overall in 2023.Â
- Seven Jacks combined for nine hits on the day. Jocelyn Carrillo registered two doubles and two RBIs while Culver had two hits. Osmundson had a team-high two runs scored.Â
