| MEET 2: South Dakota State at Jim Emmerich Alumni Meet |
BROOKINGS, SD – South Dakota State track and field returns to action on Saturday and will host the Jim Emmerich Alumni meet at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Competition is slated to begin at noon on campus with the running events. The field events will follow with a 12:30 p.m. start.
Additional featured events happening during the meet include the Phil LaValle Alumni Mile, the Fastest Little Jackrabbit and the alumni 4x300-meter relay.
LAST TIME OUT
Members of the SDSU men's track and field team competed in the M City Indoor Classic on Friday, accruing nine top-five finishes across six events at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
The pole vault duo of
Jaden Peters and
Matt Katz kicked things off as they claimed the top two spots in the event. Peters won with a clearance of 15-09.25 as Katz took runner-up with a 15-03.50.
Pierre Lear won his heat of the 60-meter hurdles to qualify for the event finals, where he placed fourth overall with a clocking of 8.19.
Jared Wipf and
Jake Werner represented SDSU in the finals of the 60-meter dash as Wipf tied his PR of 6.80 to win the event and Werner took third with a 6.94.
The duo also competed in the 200-meter dash, where Wipf again won the event with a 22.10 and Werner ran a 22.13 to finish third.
Jeremiah Donahoe clocked a 51.40 in the men's 400-meter dash for a fourth place overall finish.
Finally,
Connor Powers cleared a height of 6-06.00 for third place in the high jump.
MEN, WOMEN PICKED THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL: The Jackrabbit men and women were each chosen to finish third in the 2024 Summit League Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, officials announced Thursday.

- Took second in the long jump with a mark of 5.96/19'6.75" and eighth in the 60m with a 13.25
- Season best/personal best mark of 6.05/19'10.25" in long jump and season best/personal best of 7.51 in the 60m dash at USD Alumni meet
- Won the long jump at four different meets and took second at three meets
Leah Hisken, South Dakota State

Hunter Wallster, South Dakota State

- Recorded a season best/personal best weight throw mark of 20.06m/65'9.75" to win the event at the Summit League Championships
- Season best/personal best shot put mark of 12.84m/42'1.5" for sixth place at USD Alumni meet
- Placed in top three of the weight throw in all seven appearances
