South Dakota State returns to Brookings this week to take on South Dakota Tuesday and Denver Saturday at First Bank & Trust Arena.
The Jackrabbits enter the weekend at 18-0 with a 7-0 mark in the Summit League. With 18 wins, SDSU is one shy of matching the single-season win record for the Dan Georgalas era (19 in 2021). If the Jacks win two matches this week they will have 20 wins in a season since winning 25 in 2007.
South Dakota visits First Bank & Trust Arena Tuesday with a 16-11 overall record and 5-2 mark in the Summit League. The Coyotes have won each of their last three contests - 3-2 at UND, 3-1 vs. Kansas City and 3-2 vs. North Dakota State. SDSU holds a 58-41 all-time record over USD, however the Coyotes are 27-2 in the teams' Division I series. USD has won 18 consecutive meetings dating back to the 2015 season. The conclusion of Tuesday's match against USD will mark the halfway point in the Summit League season for the Jackrabbits.
Saturday's match against Denver kicks off the second half of the conference season. The Jacks have already beat the Pioneers 3-1 in Denver earlier in the year. The Pios enter the week 8-9 on the season and 3-4 in Summit League action. All-time, Denver has a 24-4 lead in its series with SDSU. The Jackrabbits won the first two meetings between these teams back in 1989, then did not win again until a 3-2 win in the opening round of the Summit League Tournament in 2021.
