PEORIA, Ill. —Carson Noecker finishes in the top-10, leading South Dakota State men to a sixth-place team finish while the women take 12th at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet Friday afternoon.
HEAD COACH ROD DEHAVEN
"Good day for the Jackrabbits, certainly on the women's side. They came in ranked 12th and finished 12th. Solid day for that group and a lot of positives throughout the season. On the men's side, pushing Carson through to a national meet is never easy to do, but he ran well and pushed through to achieve that. The guys ran exceptional despite finishing sixth when they were close to fourth. I think it was one of our best performances at regionals overall."
The women's team had an incredible run as the top four Jackrabbits clocked new 6K personal records. Freshman Courtney Stadter led the Jacks for the second meet in a row, assisting the team to a 12th-place finish. Stadter beat her personal record, which she set just two weeks ago at the Conference Championship, as she finished 48th with a new PR of 20:50.7. Jessica Lutmer also finished with a new personal record as she crossed the line at 20:58.0 to place 56th.
Grace Waage finished with a new PR of 21:22.3 to take 85th. Jenna Soine set a new personal record of 21:29.0 to take 98th. Kayla Christopherson rounded out the scoring five with the second-best 6K time of her collegiate career. Christopherson finished in 107th with a time of 21:35.3. Mya Kizer also competed for South Dakota State. Kizer finished 125th with a time of 21:52.0.
Noecker's stellar performance led the men's team to a sixth-place finish. The sophomore clocked a new 10K PR of 29:25.8, obliterating his previous 10K time of 30:50.0 and the Jackrabbit Newman Golf Course record, set by Michael Krsnak with a time of 30:22.7. Noecker finished 10th overall and was the fourth student-athlete not on a qualifying team to cross the finish line, giving him a chance to make it to the NCAA Championships. Noecker's fate will be decided during the cros country selection show, streaming live on NCAA.com on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
Josh Becker finished second for the Jackrabbits, placing 36th with a new PR of 30:19.6. Cody Larson also clocked a new PR, crossing the line at 30:35.4 to take 44th. Ben Anteau and Eli Hall rounded out the scoring five in 54th and 57th, respectively. Anteau clocked a time of 30:40.3 while Hall finished with a time of 30:42.5.
Cormick Logue and Jackson Dutcher also competed for the Jackrabbits. Logue crossed the line at 31:26.2 to take 109th while Dutcher finished with a new PR of 31:56.4 to place 133rd.
