BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State completed a 3-point barrage en route an 87-72 victory over Chadron State on Thursday, Dec. 19, inside First Bank & Trust Arena.Â

The Jackrabbits were stellar from deep in the non-conference contest against the Eagles. SDSU hit 13 of 29 (44.8%) 3-pointers in the first half and drained another seven in the second half. The Jackrabbits' 20 3-pointers were the second most made in a single game during SDSU's Division I era, trailing the 23 they connected on in a December of 2018 victory versus Savannah State.

South Dakota State had a 47-30 lead at halftime and led by as many as 30 when a
Matthew Mors layup put the Jacks up 74-44 with 9:05 remaining in the game.Â

SDSU finished the night by going 20-for-49 (40.8%) from 3-point range. The 49 attempts are the most by the Jackrabbit men's program ever in a contest.

The Jackrabbits distributed the ball well on the night dishing out 23 assists. The assist total is tied for the seventh most in a single game and is the most for the program since the 2021-22 season.

A pair of Jackrabbits in
Kalen Garry and
Joe Sayler each recorded 16 points. Both
Stoney Hadnot and
William Whorton grabbed 10 rebounds. Whorton set a new career high in rebounds while Hadnot matched his career best.
Jaden Jackson had a career-high six assists.

South Dakota State improved to 9-5 overall behind the victory. The Jackrabbits are also now 6-0 at home. The game served as an exhibition for Chadron State which is 6-6 on the season.

- All 10 Jackrabbits that played in Thursday's game found their way into the score column. Three players scored nine points including Jackson, Owen Larson and Isaac Lindsey. Lindsey's nine points were a career high. Whorton dished out a career-high four assists.
- South Dakota State outshot Chadron State 46-44% from the field. The Eagles were held to a 4-for-15 (26.7%) clip from 3-point range.Â
- Chadron State had four double-digit scorers led by Zy Wright's 15 points and eight rebounds.Â
- SDSU led for more than 39 minutes of the contest. The Jackrabbits are now 3-0 all-time over Chadron State.Â

South Dakota State travels to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for its final non-conference game of the 2024-25 regular season. The Jackrabbits are slated to face the currently sixth-ranked Crimson Tide at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29.Â
