Four South Dakota State riders were two-time winners and the Jackrabbits swept the Most Outstanding Performer awards in closing out the home portion of the equestrian season with a 14-6 Senior Day victory over Minnesota Crookston Saturday at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.

With the victory, the Jackrabbits improved to 3-5 in head-to-head competition, including a 2-3 mark in the ECAC.

Three Jackrabbits who won twice competed in the jumping seat events, including seniors Cali Karbler and Julia Werkhoven. Karbler was named MOP in fences with a score of 79 and posted a winning score of 84 in her head-to-head flat matchup against Gabriella Siefkes.

Werkhoven, from Tempe, Arizona, tallied a winning score of 77 in fences and turned in a 64-60 victory over Belle Syrett in flat.

Other winners in flat for the Jackrabbits, who claimed four of five points in the event, were MOP Hannah Steele with a score of 86 and Sophia Kregoski with a winning score of 69. Kregoski added a victory in fences with an event-high 83 points.

Another Jackrabbit senior, Shelby Cochran, paced SDSU in the Western events with a pair of victories. Cochran closed the horsemanship competition with a score of 74.5 to seal a 3-2 SDSU advantage in the event, then opened reining with a score of 70.5 to get past a challenge from Marley Halse with 68 points.

Grace Gerbus (75.5) and Paige Wellendorf (71.5) were the other winners in horsemanship for the Jackrabbits, with Gerbus earning MOP recognition.

SDSU tallied a total of four points in reining, with Paige Butterfield (71.5), Adisyn Kuxhaus (69.5) and Emilie Strahm (68) collecting the other Jackrabbit victories. Butterfield was selected as the reining MOP after her 10-point victory over Madison Wachtel.

South Dakota State closes out the regular season with head-to-head competitions at South Carolina on March 1 and Georgia on March 2.
