STILLWATER, Okla. — The recently third-ranked Oklahoma State softball team had a strong home debut on Tuesday as the Cowgirls defeated South Dakota State in a doubleheader, 11-2 and 10-0, respectively at Cowgirl Stadium.

The Jackrabbits hung tough with the Cowgirls in the first contest. The two sides were scoreless through one frame, but Oklahoma State scored three runs in the second off a two-run home run and an RBI triple. The Cowgirls tacked another run on in the third on a solo home run to make it 4-0.Â

SDSU was held hitless until the sixth inning, but cut the margin to two runs in the inning.
Brooke Dumont hit a double to lead the frame off.
Emma Christensen came on to pinch run for her and she would be plated on an RBI single by
Emma Osmundson.
Akayla Barnard, who was walked in the inning, scored on an RBI single off the bat of
Lindsey Culver.Â

Pitcher
Alexa Williams came in for the Jacks in the fourth and worked two shutout innings. She got one out in the sixth before the Cowgirls got their bats going. Oklahoma State scored seven runs on seven hits in the inning to close the game out by an 11-2 score. SDSU starter
Tori Kniesche took the loss in the circle as she pitched the opening three innings.Â

Game two saw Oklahoma State score three runs in the first and another six in the third to put the game out of reach en route to a 10-0 victory.Â

Oklahoma State reigning All-American pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl, along with teammate Katie Kutz, gave up just two hits to SDSU's Osmundson and
Rozelyn Carrillo. The Cowgirls produced nine hits in the ballgame. Jackrabbit starter
Shannon Lasey threw the first two innings and was credited with the loss. Freshman
Kierra Goos made her college debut by pitching in the fourth for SDSU.
