BROOKINGS, S.D. - Six players put up double figures and every suited Jackrabbit got in the scoring column Thursday night as South Dakota State routed North Dakota 103-47 at Frost Arena. The win secures sole possession of the 2024 Summit League regular season crown for the Jacks.
SDSU shot 64 percent and knocked down a season-high 15 3-pointers in the 56-point victory. It is the fifth time in the last six games and 11th time this season the Jackrabbits have shot better than 50 percent.
Brooklyn Meyer was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field for a team-high 17 points. She also tallied five rebounds, four assists and a pair of blocks.
Madison Mathiowetz and
Ellie Colbeck drained four 3-pointers apiece and finished with 16 points each. Mathiowetz dished a game-high five assists while Colbeck contributed three helpers.
Tori Nelson scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in one of her final home games as a Jackrabbit, 10 of which came in the second half. She also grabbed eight rebounds while tallying three assists and three steals.
Paige Meyer and
Jenna Hopp chipped in 10 points apiece. Meyer recorded four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Hopp notched six rebounds and four assists.
Mesa Byom just missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Tori Tollefson knocked down two 3-pointers and finished with eight points, followed by
Natalie Nielsen with four points and
Isabel Aesoph hit a free throw for one point.
The Jacks jumped out to a 7-0 lead capped by a
Paige Meyer steal-and-score, forcing an early UND timeout less than two minutes in. The Hawks worked back within one at 11-10 but never took the lead. Five different players scored during a 9-0 run in the second period, giving the Jacks a 34-18 lead, and SDSU led by 17 at halftime.
A
Tori Nelson and-one bucket early in the second half pushed SDSU's lead over the 20-point margin. The Jackrabbits ended the third quarter on a 15-2 run that pushed the home team up 40, 77-37.
Natalie Nielsen made it a 50-point game late in the half, then scored the final bucket of the contest for the 56-point win.
NOTES
- South Dakota State has won 46 consecutive regular season conference games. That matches James Madison's streak from 1985-90Â for the 11th longest streak in the history of the NCAA.
- The Jackrabbits dominated the boards, 45-28, and had a 42-14 advantage in points in the paint.
- Brooklyn Meyer brought her season block total to 53, which is a new program record for single-season blocks by a sophomore.
- The last time South Dakota State won by at least 50 points was a 118-59 win over South Dakota January 14, 2023.
