BROOKINGS, SD – Performances in women's 4x800-meter relay and the men's 5000-meter run highlighted day one of action at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday afternoon at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Nina Dawson,
Hannah Spoden,
Emily Plucker and
Selma Dingmann teamed up for a second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay after clocking a time of 9:33.33. Their mark placed them sixth all-time in SDSU history.
Also joining the Top 10 List were
Cody Larson and
Carson Noecker. The duo took the top two spots in the 5000-meter run with times of 14:20.90 and 14:24.59, respectively.
In the night's other events,
Jenna Johnson claimed fifth in Friday heats of the 200-meter dash with a clocking of 25.22.
Rich-Ann Archer followed close behind in 25.44 seconds for eighth place as Abby Hughes clocked a PR of 26.63.
Four Jackrabbits finished in the top 10 of the women's 5000-meter, led by
Jessica Lutmer. She clocked a 9:57.77 for second place as
Emma Gonzalez recorded a PR of 10:06.78 for fourth.
Nicole Greyer (10:08.81) was fifth and
Ashlyn Hillyard (10:10.51) came sixth.
Leah Hisken claimed the top spot in the 5000-meter run, clocking a time of 16:45.30 for the first place crown.
Kiah Boetel took sixth in the pole vault with her mark of 10-04.00 and
Milee Young threw a 40-10.50 for 10
th place in the DI Invite Section shot put.
Carter Toews clocked a personal best of 22.07 in the men's 200-meter dash for fourth place as
Andrew Law tied his PR of 23.09.
Will Lohr took third overall in the 3000-meter run with a personal-best clocking of 8:19.34 as
Matt Katz finished third overall in the pole vault with a 16-01.00.
Hunter Wallster won the DI Invite Section weight throw with a 62-08.75 while
Caiden Fredrick threw a 58-11.50 for second place.
Ethan Fischer took third with a mark of 58-11.25 and
Ryan Hackbart collected a PR of 51-06.50.
In the DI Invite Sectionshot put,
Lee Reiser came fourth with a PR of 53-00.00, Fredrick was fifth with a 52-07.25 and Hackbart threw a 46-00.00 for ninth and a new personal best.
Day two of the meet will resume on Saturday at 11 a.m. with both the running and field events.
