BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State heads to a pair of Midwest meets between Friday and Saturday.
USD TUNE UP A majority of the squad will compete in the USD Tune Up at the Lillibridge Track Complex in Vermillion, S.D. The meet will start at 4:45 on Friday with the women's high jump, and is slated to wrap up around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday with the women's 4X400-meter relay.
Ty Nelson will be the Jackrabbit to watch at USD. Last time out, Nelson won the triple jump competition with a mark of 49-05.00 (15.06m) to become the sixth-best performer in program history.
On the women's side, Story Rasby will be one to keep an eye on. Last time out, Rasby assisted with setting the women's sprint medley relay record with a time of 3:56.12 to finish sixth at the Drake Relays.
TIM MARSHALL OPEN A few student-athletes will also make their way over to Minnesota State University, Mankato for the Tim Marshall Open. The meet will begin with field events at 11:00 a.m., followed by track events at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2.
Ellie Harris will be the Jackrabbit to watch on the women's side. Harris has had a phenomenal outdoor season as the sophomore claimed the SDSU 200-meter program record with a run of 23.39, which currently sits at the 39th-fastest time in the NCAA West region. Harris also assisted with two relay-record runs at the Drake Relays. Harris was the second runner in the 4X100-meter team, which finished with a time of 45.38 in the prelims. Later, she anchored the 4X200-meter squad, which clocked a time of 1:37.61 to place third.
Lucas Flemmer will be one to watch on the men's side. Flemmer became the only Jackrabbit in program history to run under 47 seconds in the 400-meter as he clocked a time of 46.80 to win the event at the UW La-Crosse meet. Last time out, Flemmer assisted the men's 4X200-meter squad to a Drake Relays victory with a program record run of 1:24.18, usurping one of the oldest SDSU records in the book.
