DES MOINES, IA – A group of SDSU women's track and field athletes competed in four distance events on Thursday in their first day of action at the Drake Relays, with all of the Jackrabbits placing in the top 20 of their heats and events.
Grace Waage and
Nicole Greyer hit the track first for the women's unseeded 1500-meter run. Waage ran a 4:30.90 for ninth place overall as Greyer finished 15
th in 4:35.60.
Kayla Christopherson represented SDSU in the 3000-meter steeplechase, racing into 10
th place in heat one with a time of 11:08.96. She finished 27
th overall in the event.
Leah Hisken clocked a time of 16:24.70 for a 16
th place finish in the seeded 5000-meter run.
Finally,
Jessica Lutmer cruised to fourth place in the 10k with her new personal best time of 34:52.47, exploding up to third on the all-time list. This was her first 10k race as a Jackrabbit.
Competition will resume for SDSU on Saturday at the Drake Relays in Iowa and the Steve Scott Invitational in California.
