Four-time South Dakota high school state champion Burk Blasius has signed a national letter of intent, indicating he will continue his wrestling and academic pursuits at South Dakota State University in the fall.

A Wall native and a member of the Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall wrestling co-op, Blasius compiled a 180-22 prep record en route to Class B state titles at 160 pounds as a freshman, 170 pounds as a sophomore and junior and 175 pounds his senior season. He posted a 36-2 record during the 2023-24 season and was named Class B Wrestler of the Year by the South Dakota Wrestling Coaches Association.

Blasius also excelled in football, earning all-state honors and Elite 45 accolades from the Sioux Falls Argus Leader as a quarterback in both 2022 and 2023. He also was named conference MVP on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball his senior season.

A Gold Honor Roll student and co-valedictorian of his senior class, Blasius intends to major in human biology at SDSU.

South Dakota State completed the 2023-24 season by setting a school record with four wrestlers earning All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The Jackrabbits tied a program record with eight national qualifiers.
