BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State softball team battled 30 mph winds to top Kansas City 11-1 in five innings Saturday at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium.
The Jackrabbits improve to 24-18 on the season and 8-0 in the Summit League while Kansas City falls to 14-24 overall and 3-6 in conference contests.
SDSU plated multiple runs in the first, second and fourth frames for the 10-run victory.
Mia Jarecki and
Lindsey Culver registered multi-hit games while
Emma Osmundson and
Jocelyn Carrillo each had a home run.
Brooke Dumont knocked in three runs.
After giving up a run in the top half of the opening frame, SDSU responded with two in the bottom half to take the lead. With two outs on the board, Culver singled, then advanced to second on a
Rozelyn Carrillo walk. Dumont doubled to score Culver and Carrillo before being tagged out attempting to take another base.
Jocelyn Carrillo opened the second with a solo shot to left field, making it 3-1 for the Jacks.

Cheyanne Masterson and
Mia Jarecki worked their way on to load to bases for Osmundson, who hit a grand slam over the left field fence to make it 7-1.
SDSU scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth. A Culver single sent Jarecki home from second base, then
Rozelyn Carrillo singled to send home Osmundson on the next at bat for the 9-1 score. Dumont and
Alli Boyle each got out on their next at bats, but not before registering an RBI apiece for the 11-1 final tally.
The first KC batter of the final frame reached on an error but was forced out when the next batter grounded into a double play. The Roos' last chance to extend the contest flew out to center field.
Tori Kniesche went the distance in the circle for SDSU. She struck out eight batters while giving up four hits and two walks. She moves to 12-5 on the season and remains unbeaten in Summit League play.
Kansas City's Camryn Stickel takes the loss and falls to 3-12 on the season.
NOTES
Saturday was SDSU's eighth run-rule victory of the season and the second of the conference season.

The Jackrabbits go on the road next weekend to take on North Dakota State Saturday and Sunday in Fargo, North Dakota.
