BROOKINGS, S.D. — The South Dakota State soccer program brings in a new face with collegiate goalkeeping experience as Corey Bulheller has been hired to join the coaching staff ahead of the 2024 season to assist with the position.Â

Brock Thompson. "His playing experience as a goalkeeper, combined with his diverse coaching experience, will be a great asset for our program."

Bulheller has spent the last three seasons assisting both the men's and women's soccer teams as a goalkeepers coach at his alma mater, St. Scholastica, in Duluth, Minn. He'll serve as SDSU's goalkeeping assistant as the Jackrabbits enter the 2024 season.Â

Prior to his coaching experience, Bulheller was a goalkeeper for three years at St. Scholastica. He appeared in 35 games during his playing career for the Saints, recording 12 wins and making 146 saves. His best season came as a senior when he played and started in all 22 matches. He had a 1.74 goals against average and made 91 saves. He registered a .700 saves percentage and produced a conference-best seven clean sheets in 2019 en route to earning First Team All-UMAC accolades.

Bulheller is originally from Middleton, England. Prior to his arrival in the United States, Middleton was a team captain for his secondary school that won a County Cup championship. He earned his degree from St. Scholastica in psychology.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits return to action in 2024 coming off a season in which is captured the 2023 Summit League Championship and made its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance.Â
