VERMILLION, SD – The women's 100-meter hurdle record was broken in quick fashion on Friday afternoon as multiple Jackrabbits won their respective events at the USD Tune-Up at the Lillibridge Track Complex.
Brielle Dixon clocked a blistering mark of 13.53 to break the SDSU school record and take first place in the 100-meter hurdles.
Savannah Risseeuw also recorded a new PR, finishing second in 13.89 seconds, the fifth-fastest time in school history.
Rich-Ann Archer finished within the top 10 of the 100-meter dash, taking third place overall with a clocking of 12.11. She also took third in the 200-meter dash in 24.73 as
Maggie Madsen (25.15) was fifth and
Erika Kuntz (25.20, PR) was seventh.
Risseeuw took third in the 400-meter hurdles with her time of 1:05.50 as Abby Hughes finished fourth in 1:06.21.
Nicole Swanson was 17
th in the 800-meter run in 2:32.59 and also finished 10
th overall in the 1500-meter run with her time of 5:02.26.
Jaiden Boomsma won the women's long jump with her leap of 19-06.25 while
Apryl Adderley (17-09.75) was fourth and
Layne Kirkendoll (17-04.25) was fifth.
Emma Smith led the way for SDSU in the triple jump, taking third place with a 36-11.00 as
Camryn Brinkman (36-10.50) was fourth and Adderley (35-09.25) was seventh.
Laci Leverty cleared a height of 12-10.75 to take third place in the pole vault while over in the high jump,
Taylor Jochum was sixth after clearing 5-03.25 and Kirkendoll finished seventh with a 5-01.25.
In the javelin throw,
Nora Peterson was runner-up with a 137-01.00 and
Ryann Moline was third with a 126-01.00.
Milee Young claimed third place in the discus throw with a mark of 150-06.00 as teammate
Josie Curry was eighth in the hammer throw with a PR of 164-01.00 and fourth in the shot put with a 40-10.50.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Dixon, Risseeuw, Madsen and Boomsma clocked a 46.39 to win the event.
On the men's side of action,
Evan Henderson joined SDSU history in the 100-meter dash as he ran a PR of 10.57 for 10
th on the Top 10 List. He finished third overall in the event as
Carter Toews (10.78, PR) took eighth and
Drew Olson (10.81) was 10
th.
Gunnar Gunderson was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a PR of 14.81 as
Carter Johnson took eighth in a PR of 14.88.
Aiden Voss (15.23) and
Ben Morningstar (15.25) also each ran new or tied their previous personal bests.
Jake Werner won the 200-meter dash in a flat 21.00 seconds, which is now the second-fastest time in school history.
Carter Toews was third in a PR of 21.40—now 10
th on the All-Time List—as
Evan Henderson clocked a PR of 21.72 for sixth and Olson ran a 21.94 for ninth.
Thailan Hallman won the 400-meter dash with a top clocking of 49.08 as
Sam Castle finished fifth overall with his new personal best time of 49.96.
SDSU claimed the top two spots in the 400-meter hurdles as
Jeremiah Donahoe (54.65, PR) won the event and Gunderson (55.99) was runner-up.
In the 800-meter run,
Sean Murphy came eight overall in a time of 1:56.03.
Cashton Johnson (4:02.87, PR) and
Tyler O'Neill (4:05.69, PR) finished back-to-back in the men's 1500-meter run, taking seventh and eighth, respectively.
Luke Johnson took fourth place overall in the 5000-meter run with a clocking of 15:01.12 in his event debut.
In the long jump,
Hudson Schroeder leaped into fourth place with a personal best jump of 23-04.50 as
Isaac Flanegan finished fifth with a 22-07.25. Flanegan also took sixth place in the triple jump with a new PR of 43-05.25.
Connor Powers cleared 6-04.75 for fifth place in the high jump, followed by
Carson Kirwan, who tied for seventh place with a 6-00.75.
Matt Katz finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 15-07.25 as
Ryan Karajanis cleared 15-07.25 for fourth place and a new PR.
SDSU went 1-2 in the javelin as Katz (159-05.00) won the event and
Ryan Benson (159-02.00, PR) took runner-up.
Hunter Wallster won the hammer throw with his mark of 191-11.00 and, in the shot put,
Lee Reiser finished third with a throw of 51-11.50.
Caiden Fredrick took the top spot in the discus with a throw of 171-04.00 while
Ryan Hackbart claimed fifth place with a PR of 150-02.00.
UP NEXT: SDSU will head to the 2024 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place May 9-11 at O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul, Minnesota.
