KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday the 44 NCAA Division Women's Division I college soccer players named to the 2024 Hermann Trophy Watch List as the regular season officially gets underway. Two South Dakota State seniors were among the players recognized among the nation's best.Â
Â
SDSU is represented on the list by
Kaycee Manding and
Avery Murdzek. Manding was previously named to the organization's preseason Defenders to Watch for the second straight season, while Murdzek made USC's Midfielders to Watch list.Â
Â
Both Jackrabbits are multiple time All-Summit League performers. Last season, Manding and Murdzek were First Team All-Region honorees by United Soccer Coaches.Â
Â
In 2023, senior forward
Maya Hansen became the first Jackrabbit to be chosen to the Hermann Trophy Watch List.Â
Â
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
Â
South Dakota State begins the 2024 season this evening at Fishback Soccer Park in Brookings. First kick between the Jackrabbits and Kansas Jayhawks is scheduled for 7 p.m.
