BROOKINGS, S.D. - The South Dakota State volleyball team completed an unbeaten Summit League season Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep of North Dakota at First Bank & Trust Arena. At 16-0 against conference opponents, SDSU is the first team to go undefeated in league action since 2019.
Set scores went 25-18, 25-14, 25-15.
The Jackrabbits made quick work of the Fighting Hawks, finishing off the match in just one hour and 12 minutes. SDSU hit .349 for the match, the second best mark for the Jacks this season, with 48 kills and 13 errors on 83 swings. SDSU also aced UND seven times and had seven blocks as a team.
Sylvie Zgonc led the offense with 11 kills at a .429 clip and added six digs and two block assists.
Madison Burr also hit .429, notching eight kills to go with five blocks, three digs and two assists.
Sydni Schetnan contributed seven kills while hitting .429.
Rylee Martin dished 32 assists for the Jackrabbits and was 4-for-4 on attack attempts. She also had four digs.
Joslyn Richardson tallied seven digs and a pair of ace serves.
Rachel Wieber put down three aces.
UND's Paige Barber had nine kills but was held to a .080 hitting percentage.
Richardson and Weber tallied an ace apiece as the Jackrabbits opened up a 7-1 lead in the opening set. The Hawks worked back to within two at 17-15, then a 4-0 SDSU stretch had the home team up six again and the Jacks pulled away from there. The second set was tight until the Jackrabbits strung together eight straight points with the help of six Hawk errors to lead 22-13. Wieber notched another ace to end the set. The Jacks got an ace from Klein during a 6-1 run to finish the match.

South Dakota State is the first team since 2019 to go undefeated in the Summit League regular season and the 11th time in conference history.Â
